What we do?
The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department responds to fire, motor
vehicle accidents, ambulance and other emergency calls in the Town of Bethel.
Its primary response area is the section of town south of Rockwell Road. This
means that the department responds to all emergency calls in that area. The
area of town north of Rockwell Road is the Stony Hill Volunteer Fire Department's
primary response area. However, each department responds to calls in the other
department's primary response area when needed. And for certain types of calls,
such as reports of building fires, both departments are dispatched regardless
of whose district the call is in.
In addition to responding to emergency calls, the Bethel Volunteer Fire Department
takes part in various community service activities. These include participating
in parades, offering an annual open house during National Fire Prevention Week
in October, making educational presentations in the Bethel schools and standing
by with an ambulance and crew at sporting events like high school football games.
