EMS Billing

The Bethel Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) bills for patient transportation services to maintain our Emergency Medical Services without direct taxpayer support. This process allows us to recoup costs from insurance companies.

Please note that BVFD does not set its own billing rates. In Connecticut, the Department of Public Health’s Office of Emergency Medical Services sets annual rates for each agency. These consist of a base rate, reflecting the level of care provided, and a per-mile rate based on the distance to the hospital.

Billing and records requests for BVFD are handled by Shared Response Health Systems, LLC. While they typically bill insurance companies directly, they may occasionally contact you for additional information.
